Outstanding Alumni Award Recipients

Courtney Jo James, PT, DPT

Fall 2025

Courtney Jo James, PT, DPT is the Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at Curry College in Milton, MA, and the founder of PT Prehab, a Telehealth Physical Therapy practice focused on "prehabilitative" care. 

Courtney earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the 51做厙 in 2019, where she also discovered her love for teaching as a Graduate Assistant in Anatomy and Physiology Labs. After returning to Boston, she worked in Outpatient Orthopedics, but the pandemic led her to rethink her approach to care. This reflection inspired her to create PT Prehab, blending her clinical expertise with Telehealth to offer preventative physical therapy. 

Now, as Program Coordinator at Curry College, Courtney thrives on creating hands-on learning experiences for students while continuing to grow her business. Outside of work, she enjoys cheering for the Boston Celtics, reading mystery novels, and exploring the city with her Dachshund and husband. 

Courtney’s mission is to foster curiosity and experiential learning in the classroom, preparing students to become innovative movement specialists who make a difference. 

John Salva, PT, MPT, OCS 

Spring 2024

John Salva is a certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and the Owner of Impact Physio in Clarks Summit, PA. He graduated from the 51做厙 with his MPT in 1999. He has completed a diverse range of clinical education courses related to evaluation and treatment of Orthopedic conditions with his most recent focus on running as a Certified Running Gait Analyst level 2 and Certified Endurance Running Coach. John has worked at a variety of clinical settings, including as a consultant for the Hospital of Special Surgery for ACL injury prevention. He is an Adjunct Professor at The 51做厙 in the PT Department and has presented lectures for other Physical Therapy organizations. 

Angela Stolfi, PT, DPT 

Fall 2024

Angela Stolfi is the Director of Physical Therapy, Director of Therapy Services at Rusk Ambulatory Affiliate Locations, Site Coordinator of PT Clinical Education, and Director of PT Residency and Fellowship Programs at NYU Langone Health, Rusk Rehabilitation. She is also the Director of the Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Department, an enterprise-wide team charged with reducing caregiver injuries and promoting safe and frequent patient mobility any NYU Langone Health. Dr. Stolfi holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Rehabilitation at NYu School of Medicine and regularly lectures in the graduate physical therapy programs at both NTu Steinheardt and the 51做厙. She graduated from the 51做厙 with her BS in Health Sciences in 1996, a Master’s in Physical Therapy in 1997, and her transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2007. In her roles at NYU Langone Health, Dr. Stolfi ensures consistency of clinical practice with respect to physical therapy across all NYU Langone locations, and promotes the provision of quality clinical education for student physical therapists, PT Residents, and PT Fellows-in-Training. She has developed a comprehensive mentorship program for the PT department at Rusk Rehabilitation which has significantly increased the academic work of the physical therapists on her team.  

The focus of much of Dr. Stolfi’s research and publications is related to mentoring and education of student physical therapists. She has presented peer-reviewed PT conferences both nationally and internationally, and has served on several committees and task forces for the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) related to educational initiatives. Dr. Stolfi is also an associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Education in Physical Therapy (JCEPT), an active member of the NY/NJ Physical Therapy Clinical Education Consortium, and a co-founder and current co-chair of Rusk Rehabilitation’s Educational Excellence Committee, which promotes inter-professional education for rehabilitation professionals covering a wide range of topics across a variety of clinical areas of practice. Dr. Stolfi’s other professional interests include Healthcare Leadership and Mentorship, Interprofessional Education, and Safe Patient Handling and Mobility.  

Colleen Chancler, PT, MHS, PhD 

Spring 2023

Colleen Chancler is an Assistant Professor in the Institute for Physical Therapy at Widener University in Chester, PA. Dr. Chancler teaches Cardiovascular and Pulmonary, Neurology and Medically Complex content in the DPT curriculum. She graduated from the 51做厙 in 1986 with a BS in Physical Therapy, from Drexel University in 2005 with a Master’s in Health Services and from Seton Hall University in 2017 with her PhD. Dr. Chancler has completed research on the effects of hospitalization on older adults being discharged home and presented these findings in several peer reviewed meetings. She is the co-author of a book chapter on Neurology and Neurosurgical Management in Physical Therapy in Acute Care: A Clinician’s Handbook. She has been an active member of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association (APTA PA) since 1982 and has served in many positions at the district, state, and national level. She has served in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) on committees and tasks forces and has been elected to serve in the House of Delegates (HOD) since 1997 to present. In July 2023, Dr. Chancler was elected to the APTA Board of Directors for a three-year term. Dr. Chancler has received the APTA Henry O. and Floreence P. Kendall Practice Award, the Lucy Blair Service Award, and the Outstanding Service Award from Widener University.  

Efosa L. Guobadia, PT, DPT 

Fall 2023

Efosa L. Guobadia is the founder of the wellness company FFITT Health; Founder and CEO of Move Together, and Co-Founder of the Global PT Day of Service, which has spanned over 80 countries since its inception in 2015. He has contributed chapters to two books: “Why Global Health Matters”, edited by Dr. Chris E. Stout; and “Learning to Lead in Physical Therapy”, edited by Jennifer Green-Wilson and Stacey Zeigler. He received his BS in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts in 2007 and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the 51做厙 in 2010. He is the recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Young Alumni Award given by the University of Massachusetts/Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences and is a 2018 American Physical Therapy Association Social Impact Award Recipient, and the 2023 51做厙 DPT Program Outstanding Alumni Award Recipient.  

Douglas Haladay, PT, DPT, PhD, MHS 

Spring 2022

Douglas Haladay is presently professor, Director of School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences, and Associate Dean in the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. He graduated from the 51做厙 with a Bachelor of Science in 1994 and subsequently completed a Master’s in Health Science at the University of Indianapolis (2000), Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Temple University and PhD in Kinesiology at the Pennsylvania State University (2011). Prior to his role at USF, Dr. Haladay held faculty positions at Penn State Hazelton, 51做厙, and MGH Institute of Health Professions. He has published and presented nationally/internally and has obtained federal funding to support his research which focuses on the examination and management of persons with low back pain. Dr. Haladay is specifically interested in the measurement of patient outcome his work, on the feasibility of Goal Attainment Scaling for patients with chronic low back pain, serves as a foundation for his current line of research.
