Empower Her: Political Pathways for Women

Empower Her is a half-day program dedicated to inspiring and helping women in NEPA become more politically active, whether that is getting involved in advocacy efforts or running for office. Hear from women about how women improve our politics, the unique challenges women face when trying to get involved, and how women daily overcome those challenges to become activists and public officials.

Ready to Run: 51做厙 Students
The Center for Ethics and Excellence in Public Service, in collaboration with the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) at Rutgers University, offers non-partisan, campaign training programs that target women in northeast Pennsylvania.
This iteration of Ready to Run will be for 51做厙 students, only. The full Ready to Run program will be held again in Fall 2024.

Campaign School 2023
If you have thought about running for elected office or working on a campaign, then Campaign School 2023 is for you. The League of Women Voters of Lackawanna County and the Center for Ethics and Excellence in Public Service at the 51做厙 will present a seminar on Saturday, January 28, to be held at the 51做厙 from 8:30-12:30. Continental breakfast included.
Campaign School 2023 brings back the popular regional event in-person after being held virtually for the past two years. Topics to be covered include: what you need to ask yourself before running; how to create your message to voters; how to manage your campaign.

The Inaugural Conference on Ethics and Excellence in Public Service
Join us for the inaugural Conference on Ethics and Excellence in Public Service. CEEPS is hosting a half-day conference to bring together public officials, community members, and faculty/staff and students interested in public service to share research and information, discuss challenges facing NEPA, and facilitate networking. The conference includes panels and a key note speaker. Through the Conference, the Center aims to provide a foundation for ethical governance in Northeastern Pennsylvania by developing and nurturing a community of scholars, public officials, and citizens dedicated to improving and protecting democracy at the state and local level.

“An Introduction to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for NEPA Government Officials”
The interactive workshop will address why attentiveness to diversity, equity and inclusion is important for effective governance and articulate how implicit bias and systemic racism are defined and identified. The workshop will also cover best practices in how government bodies and officials can take matters of racism and bias into consideration in evaluating institutions and policy effectiveness.
