Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF): Student Grant Programs
American Rescue Plan Act 2021/Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III)
The recently enacted American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) provides a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) designated to assist institutions of higher education and their students. The 51做厙 has created the American Rescue Plan Emergency Grant to make funds available to qualified students.
Emergency funds are being used to address exceptional needs, determined by information provided on the Free Student Application for Federal Student Aid or through the University’s online application available, which was until September 26, 2021.
Exceptional Need: Beyond Pell eligibility, other types of exceptional need could include students who may be eligible for other federal or state need-based aid or have faced significant unexpected expenses, such as the loss of employment (either for themselves or their families), reduced income, or food or housing insecurity.
Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act 2021 (CRRSA)/ Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II)
The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, included additional COVID-19 relief through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act. This COVID stimulus bill included funding for higher education institutions and students, using the same Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) model established in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The 51做厙 made grants available to qualified students based on need using information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act/Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)
Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act/Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) the University provided grant funding for qualified students. Students were able to apply for support through a University application.
