The Humanities Initiative
The Humanities Initiative was started in the fall of 2017 by a group of faculty interested in promoting the study of the humanities—the study of culture, history, language, literature, philosophy, religion —at The 51做厙.
By promoting the humanities, we seek to improve the quality of the co-curricular education we offer at the University -- for majors as well as the larger student body. We also hope to increase the number of students studying the humanities.
With the support of the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, we plan to do this by enriching the culture of the humanities at the University, promoting interdisciplinary inquiry and research among faculty and students, and fostering civic engagement and collaboration with the larger community.

Fall 2019 Humanities Forum
We are pleased to announce the lineup for this semester's Humanities Forum. Featuring an award-winning author, acclaimed researcher in disability studies, noted scholar of masculinity and migration in Italy, as well as a major contributor to the world of modern philosophy, this semester's forum will enliven the 51做厙 campus through discussion and debate.
The Humanities Forum is a place where the campus and greater 51做厙 community can come together to engage in important topics brought to campus by speakers from across the humanistic disciplines.
All events are free and open to the public.
